Hello! I am Abbie
I know how hard it is to learn another language while you’re trying to raise a family, look after the house and work all at the same time!
That’s why I came up with the idea for Mums’ English Circle
I hope this will be a place where you can make friends, get better at learning and become a fluent English speaker.
What will you get with Mums’ English Circle?
Not your average lesson
This all sounds great But…
Why is this just for mums?
Mums are incredible people, I know because I am one! Mums need language that is not usually covered by textbooks. We need to know how to talk about our family, illnesses, school, home-life and outside life, how much we love our kids and how crazy they make us 🙂
Mums need support from other mums. No one else really knows the feeling of trying to tidy the house, cook dinner, stop the children fighting and write an work email all at the same time!
All mums are welcome. If you’re a biological mum, an adoptive mum, a step-mum, a grandmother or even an auntie, you are welcome at Mums’ English Circle.
What time are the lessons?
I’m planning to hold conversation lessons at these times (all times in Japan/Korea time zone, GMT +9)
Please check what time this is in your country here: https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/ (my time zone is GMT+9 Tokyo)
As this is just the beginning of Mums’ English Circle I hope in the future I will be able to offer more conversation lessons at more times, and with more awesome teachers.
What do I actually get?
1. Weekly conversation lessons. Supportive lessons on a monthly theme, so you can get speaking English straightaway.
2. A forum where you can meet other mums. This is your place to make new friends and message and chat in English so you can get better at English faster.
3. A monthly theme, which the conversation lessons will follow.
4. All of this in a private community. No Facebook groups or other social media, so everything is secure and private.
I want to speak to native-English speakers, not other learners
Did you know there are more ‘non-native’ English speakers in the world than the populations of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and South Africa added together? If you use English anywhere in the world, it is highly likely that you’ll be speaking to other non-native users.
So it’s really important to be able to practice with other learners, to learn lots of different accents and types of English, because you will meet them in real life!
It is really important to practice English wherever, whenever you can. All practice is good practice!
Why is this a monthly club?
That’s a great question. Maybe in the past you’ve taken courses in English that have lasted 3 months, or one year or longer. But when you finished that course what happened? Did you continue with your English studies? Maybe not, I think?
The aim of Mums’ English Circle is to provide a long-term community of English speakers that will be here for you all the time, and right in your own room! The lessons will change, and improve and the community will grow. But it’ll always be here for you.
I'm really shy, and my English is terrible.
I understand. It’s hard to begin, and English is hard! But Mums’ English Circle is a group of friends, we are all learning. We understand how you feel. The only way to get better at English is to practice, for speaking and writing, but also listening and reading too, Please come and practice with us, we’d love to have you.
And if you’re really shy there’s no need to have a photo in the forum, and you can switch your camera off during conversation lessons.
I want 1-to-1 lessons
And you can have them, for a limited number of people I have private lessons available. Please see my calendar to find out if this fits with your schedule. My calendar is here
What is the coaching part?
The coaching programme is a unique benefit of Mums’ English Circle. You’ll be able to choose your English goals, and make a plan to improve your English, every month. It’s a 5 step course to help you focus on what you need to improve your English.
Who is the teacher?
My name is Abbie, and I’ve been teaching English for over 10 years, in the UK, Japan and online.
I’ve got a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I’m really passionate about teaching English and helping my students get better and more confident.
I like knitting and crochet in my spare time, and getting outside with my two daughters.
Do you have lessons for children?
At the moment Mums’ English Circle is just for mums, so we don’t have any lessons or resources for children. But in the future I hope to include tips for using English at home.
I'm interested but the lesson times are not right for me.
I understand, currently I can only offer lessons at limited times.
Can I stop my membership at any time?
YES! You are in control of the payments and you can cancel anytime. You’ll get access to the website until the end of that month. After that you won’t be able to access your progress records or the forum.
What happens after I pay?
After you pay you’ll get some emails with your login details. You’ll be able to access the forum immediately. Details will be sent to you later about the conversation lessons.
Do you offer a Money Back Guarantee?
Yes! We want you to be completely excited, happy and delighted with Mums’ English Circle. If you are not happy, please us us know within seven days of purchase, and you will be refunded in full, email me at email@example.com
Can I look inside the membership area?
Yes! Soon I’ll put a video right here of the inside of the members’ area.
Will this make my English better?
The answer to this question is yes, if you use it. I hope that Mums’ English Circle will be a place where you can learn new English and also practice your English. If you come to conversation lessons, and use the forum to make new friends you will get better at English. If you follow the coaching course, you can record your progress so you can see how you’ve changed.
Is Mums' English Circle right for me?
If you are a mum who is about B1 intermediate level or higher in English this is for you
(that’s about TOEIC 400, Cambridge Preliminary (PET), BEC Preliminary, BULATS score 40-59, CLB/CELPIP 5, CAEL 50, IELTS level 4, TOEFL score 57-86. TOEFL iBT 42 or higher). Mums’ English Circle is right for you.
If you’re a mum who used to be this level but you haven’t studied for a long time, it’s still ok. Once you start exercising your English muscles they will quickly get back into shape.
(if you’re not sure about your level you can take a quick, free test here https://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/online-english-level-test)
If you’re a mum who is ready to spend some time studying English everyday (or most days) MEC is for you!
